Summer, House for Sale and Our Walk Around Jones Lake
2013
Mom and I took a wonderful walk around Jones Lake together and I decided to bring my camera to take photos of it. Jones Lake is a man-made lake in the middle of our city, Moncton, and our house is almost right on it. We can see over to the lake from the front windows of our house. I grew up on this lake, and it holds lots of wonderful memories. My parents used to walk hand in hand around this lake so many evenings. It’s really special to mom too.
We are in the process of selling our home. A week ago a For Sale sign was put up. So I thought as we are selling our home, one that mom has spent so many years in, I should take lots of pictures. Although even if we do move away, I am hoping I can get mom back here occasionally for a walk around the lake and to visit her friends. Regardless it is a big move, especially for mom.
Slowing it down, but just a little!
I have received a few emails asking if I was ok and if everything is alright as I haven’t been posting as much lately and went from weekly to bi weekly newsletters. (Btw, you can sign up for those here) I am so touched at the thoughtfulness of the e-mails and people checking in. Thank you! I am great, and all is well. I had already been thinking of taking it a little slower for the summer. It’s been a lot of work building the website and posting regularly. A crazy lot of work to be honest. But I am thrilled and proud to have built a little corner to house my stuff. So now it is summer, and I think a good time to slow it down a notch.
This coincided with visiting my kids last month and having such a hard time to leave them once again. I left them and my home over 2 years ago to come care for my mom. It was always expected that I would go back. I was giving myself a few years for the transition and we have talked it out lots for the past year. I think being sad this past Mothers day, missing my kids and this last trip to see them really made me realize how distant I feel from my home.
Anyway, enough of all that. It’s been a blessing to be here with mom and be able to care for her. I treasure this time with her and this is such a big move that I am spending extra time with her. Going through nooks and crannys, drawers, cupboards, rooms of this huge house also is a big, Big job! ..and I feel it is so important right now to spend quality time with Mom. Yesterday we went for a walk downtown together, among other stuff, and today after the market we are going with a friend to the beach. Yay!!
Come for a Walk with us Around Jones Lake
Jones lake is approximately 3 kilometers all the way around, and it’s a very pretty walk. Come, check it out!
Mom with her backpack. It only has a small bottle of water in it, not heavy. I am thankful she brought water too, it was hot!
I love the houses arounf the lake. There are some very beautiful ones.
Our house can just barely be seen from here. There are 2 yellow houses together, we are the further one.
Lots of scenic spots with benches.
Little path. This is next to the junior high school I went to, Hillcrest.
The ducks are crazy friendly.. just like east coast people! They came right up to me, within a foot. I am sure they wanted me to feed them. I thought they might follow me home for lunch (I wonder if they would like green smoothies), but at some point turned back towards the lake.
I love this group of trees!!
Around the corner and there is home! It’s a bittersweet feeling to sell it. Love this home. I hope it finds someone else to love it as much too!
Thanks for coming on a sentimental walk with me!
