Raw Ketchup Rawks! It’s Delicious and here’s the Recipe!
2012
This ketchup recipe is awesome because it tastes great but also because it is so healthy. Commercial ketchup is so full of processed sugar; it is one of the first ingredients! This raw version is sweet also, but the sweetness comes from Medjool dates which combine so well with tomatoes that you can’t tell where the sweetness comes from, and they are filled with loads of minerals and nutrition also packed in. As with all raw foods, it is also rich in enzymes, which are so beneficial for our bodies.
For the ketchup I made in the photos below I used organic sun dried tomatoes which are quite dark. Organic dried tomatoes usually (or always) are. It is the commercial sun dried tomatoes that are lighter in color which may be a little more appealing aesthetically, as it is what we are used to with commercial ketchups, but these commercial tomatoes are also filled with sulfates which are very detrimental to our health. So this is a choice you need to make. Whenever possible I choose to go with the organic.
Dried tomatoes are also easy to dehydrate and make yourself. If you have a garden, you can grow and dehydrate lots for use year round.
Also, I forgot to mention – This is one recipe every parent should know!!! ; )
