Pics from the Lotus Heart Center #5
2014
I have just left the Lotus Heart Center and arrived in Toronto. It’s a bittersweet feeling. I will miss those crazy full days in the kitchen, but treasure being here with my friends and kids for a few days before returning again to the comforts of home. I have a couple days in the city and lots more pics to share with you in between running around doing all the things I want to get done while I am here.
Come join me again in the kicthen!!
Garlic cake anyone? Andre turned my beautiful Chocolate Ganache Tart into a Garlic (!) Tangerine Chocolate Tart. This went with our Celrian Leek and Kale ‘Healing’ Soup (also dosed with garlic and cayenne), and was carefully decorated for those who had come down with a cold. ..but really it is truly rich, lush and decadent chocolate inside – with no garlic!
We made Black Bean Burgers – delicious – recipe coming!
Sides and condiments to go with our Black Bean Burgers..
Spring Rolls with my favorite Tamarind Dipping Sauce for lunch.
Prepping the spring roll mixture, with fresh basil, cilantro, mint leaves and ginger. These are so delicious!
Prepping the sides: Bok Choy Salad and Brown Rice and Quinoa with Nori and Sesame
Grinding spices that have been freshly toasted for a Marrakesh Curry.
This Marrakesh Curry was a favorite new recipe that I will share with you in the upcoming weeks!
Another new recipe: Mushroom and Lentil Shapherd’s Pie.
Sometimes a beautiful salad is just the best. We served big salads with many of the meals. So fresh, flavorful and alive. Food for your soul and body that will make you feel great.
Andre came up with this creative breakfast – Papaya bowls. He filled them with Granola, vanilla yogurt (but you could use Vanilla Cream to keep it raw, and vegan) and with a strawberry on top. Beautiful!
We had a Chocolate Fondue on Valanetines day with pineapple, banana, pear and strawberries. I had a beautiful Valentines.. the valentine fairy came and I felt so blessed!
Lots of chopping was going on in the kitchen!
I experimented with my laser ginger.. more intense of a flavor than I expected and hard to describe. I won’t miss it too much in cooking, but maybe that is because I am used to using ginger, galangal and garlic.. and that’s good because it’s hard to find and get, but it was very fascinating to try out and taste!!
Indonesian night; one of my favorite cuisines. We had a big Stir fry with Nasi Goreng (traditional fried rice) and Gado Gado (traditional salad) with Sambal Kekang, a spicy peanut sauce dressing. (both of the last recipes are in my book: the Love of Living Foods)
Bowls of White Beans and Pine Nuts with Kale and Arugula Salad.
More Berry Cheesecakes!
More salad inspiration.. this one with lots of tomatoes!
I’m off now on my city adventuring.. gotta get in as much as I can while I am here. I will try to get the next and last set of photos up tomorrow or the day after, so I am ready to post recipes when I get home!
Peace and love, Robin
