E’Terra Samara: Eco Resort in northern Ontario, Canada
2012
Our location today takes us to northern Ontario to E’Terra Samara, an eco resort designed by Farrow Partnership Architects. Here there are 12 single room tree houses nestled in the Bruce Peninsula forest, an area listed as a UNESCO World Biosphere reserve and which gives a spectacular view of Georgian Bay.
Each tree house is designed to work in harmony with the natural landscape and are actually suspended from the trees in such a way that they hug them, rather than being nailed directly onto them. The design of them is based on the shape of the Samara, a propeller shaped seed capsule that falls from the maple trees in the fall. a The idea behind these is to have people interact with wild nature and live in it without disturbing it. The tree house lofts also provide some luxury in nature with beautiful glass walls that capture a panoramic view.
We and other guests also have access to an on-site day spa and sauna, seasonal salt water pool reservoir, lavender labyrinth garden and several nature walking trails.
