Easiest Ever Chocolate Avocado Pudding
2012
This luscious creamy chocolate pudding is not only delicious but wonderfully good for you and is made with all high-nutrition natural ingredients. Raw cacao is one of the greatest of the superfoods and is easily found in most health food stores. It comes in a powder form, like cocoa, and is very easy to use. The avocado is completely undetectable in the finished pudding and is what makes the pudding so rich and creamy. It is loaded with heart healthy natural fats and rich in nutrients. For the milk you can use your favorite type of milk. I like to use my homemade almond milk, which is unpasteurized and still has all the enzymes and nutrition of the raw almonds. For the sweetener, I chose maple syrup as I love the taste of it together with chocolate and in addition it is rich in minerals, but honey or agave would substitute well. Cinnamon has a great blood sugar stabilizing quality to it and is considered a superfood of the spice world. So, think of this as a superfood chocolate pudding and one you can feel really good about eating!
Benefits of Raw Cacao
Cacao does not contain caffeine, but has a similar substance called theobromine, which has about a quarter of the stimulating effects of caffeine. Theobromine stimulates the central nervous system, relaxes muscles and dilates blood vessels (great for pre-workout 😉
Raw cacao helps fight depression and anxiety. It has PEA (phenylethylamine) an adrenal chemical also produced in our brain when we are in love. This is the deep connection between love and chocolate.
In addition, cacao contains anandamine (aka the bliss chemical), which is also a neurotransmitter released in the brain when we are feeling happy. The anandamine in cacao helps keep this brain chemical in our system longer and so we feel positive for longer.
Raw cacao is one of the highest natural known sources of antioxidants and is known to decrease blood pressure, improve circulation, promote cardiovascular function and improve digestion.
Chocolate Avocado Pudding
Ingredients
1 ripe Avocado
¼ cup Cacao powder
¼ cup Maple Syrup, or Honey or Agave
6 Tbsp Almond milk
1 tsp Vanilla
dash of Cinnamon
Directions
Put all of the ingredients in a blender and blend.
I started with a quarter of a cup of almond milk but had to add 2 more Tbsps (making it 6 Tbsps) so that it would blend steadily. Slowly add more milk if you need so that the blender will blend. The key is to have it as thick as possible by adding as little liquid as you can but just enough so that it blends and gives you a creamy finished pudding.
