Chia is quite possibly the most nutritious seed available.

About – Chia, or Salvia hispanica, is a species of flowering plant in the mint family, native to central and southern Mexico and Guatemala. Chia is called ‘the runners seed’ as Aztec warriors and messengers subsisted on these seeds for long periods of time. It was cultivated by the Aztecs and so revered that it was given as a tribute annually to their rulers.

Nutrition – Chia is a true superfood, containing close to 20% protein and an abundance of vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants and fatty acids. In fact, it is the richest vegetable source of Omega3. An exceptional quality of chia is its ability to absorb water, up to 12x its weight, making it an exceptional diet food, as it makes you feel full quickly and for long periods. But more than that, this gel prolongs hydration and retains electrolytes in the body, ideal for athletes. Its gel also balances blood sugar levels and slows down the conversion of starch into sugar providing a steady supply of energy, no ups and downs. It also is beneficial in sweeping the intestinal tract dislodging old accumulated waste and helps to regulate bowel movement.
