This delicious granola recipe is not only bursting with flavor but also one of the healthiest granolas around. The nuts and seeds are made into what is considered living food, by soaking them first and then drying them at a low temperature. I have included some variations with some of my favorite ways of making this. Follow me through this as I take you on a delicious journey making raw granola!

My Favorite Raw Granola Recipe

The recipe makes lots but if you have a large dehydrator you may wish to double the recipe. It is guaranteed to get eaten quickly.

Ingredients

1 cup Almonds – pre-soaked and drained
1 cup Walnuts – pre-soaked and drained
2 cup Pecans – pre-soaked and drained
1 cup Sunflower Seeds – pre-soaked and drained
2 Apples
1 Banana
½ cup Raisins

Sauce:
1 cup Dates
1/3 cup Water
½ cup Maple Syrup
1 tsp Vanilla
1 tsp Salt

Directions

Blend sauce ingredients in blender and set aside. Process the nuts and sunflower seeds in food processor until they are in small pieces. Remove to a large bowl. Process apples, banana and raisins together until coarsely chopped and chunky and add to bowl.  Add the ground flax and sauce to the rest of granola ingredients in bowl and mix together until well combined.

Spread out onto Teflex sheets approximately ¼” thick. Dehydrate 4-6 hours at 115 degrees, then flip onto mesh screen and continue dehydrating for 10-12 hours. Break into pieces and store in an air-tight container. This will keep well for several weeks. To keep fresh for longer, store the granola in the refrigerator.

Granola Variations

Sometimes it is nice to have different flavors of granola and here are some of my favorites. I make the Deluxe Granola in the video below.

Forest Burst – Add ½ cup dried Cranberries and 2 Tbsp Cinnamon
Hola Granola – Add ½ chopped Pineapple and ½ cup shredded Coconut
Deluxe Granola – Add ½ cup Coconut, ½ cup Cranberries, ½ cup Pineapple, 1 Tbsp Cinnamon and 1 Tbsp Orange Zest

How to make Raw Granola

These are the rest of the ingredients to make the Deluxe Granola version.

Granola Deluxe ingredients

Put all of the sauce ingredients in the blender and blend. I added some of the sunflower seeds (about a quarter to a third of what I had soaked) to make it a thicker paste.

Chop the nuts and seeds and then put in a bowl. I used a food processor and chopped the almonds first and then chopped the pecans, walnuts and sunflower seeds all together.

Chop apples, banana and add them to bowl with raisins. The banana may have been nicer chopped with a knife, but I took the quicker method and processed it.

Add any extra ingredients.

Pour in the sauce and stir it all well.

Granola

Spread onto teflex sheets. Keep it chunky so it will break up easily into pieces.

Dehydrate at 115 degrees for 8-12 hours and then flip onto a mesh screen and continue dehydrating for 8-12 more hours until dry. Take out and break up into clumps and store in a container or zip lock bags. Will keep well for about a month. If you are storing for more than a few weeks, store in the fridge.

Granola

Eat as is dry as a snack or in a bowl with banana, berries and or almond milk. It’s delicious however you serve it!
